Having the reverse switch on the fender was a hassle. I didn't like the fact that I had to take my hand off the handle bars to put into reverse. Now with having the lever on the handle bars, it's really convenient and fast. I have full control when maneuvering around tight trails while going into and out of reverse while keeping my hand on the front brake or throttle if needed. It's amazing how a simple upgrade like this makes a huge difference.
All that was needed was a CRF450x clutch lever and an 300ex reverse cable p/n: 22880-HM3-000. For the clutch lever you could use the R model too, but I used the X model because of the clutch safety switch. Just incase someone else rides the bike they wont start the bike in gear but a hill or whatever. I removed the parking brake assembly, cable and clutch lever setup. It's a bad design anyway and never worked on either one of my 400's. I had to shorten the reverse cable a bit, so I bought a 6mm-1.0x16mm bolt and drilled 5/64 hole for the cable. Enjoy the pics...
